I come from a long line of craftsmen beginning with my great grandfather who was an architect in Minneapolis. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, I apprenticed to a furniture maker for two years and then went to graduate school where I received a master’s degree from Harvard University in 1991. Whether designing a small piece of furniture or an entire building in my rural Vermont studio, I focus not only on the overall composition, but also on the details of connections and joinery. I use eco-conscious materials, natural light and energy efficient construction methods wherever possible. I strive for design that is both functional and inspiring. |
